Hello! I’m Amy Padgett, Founder and Director of Shine School. As an educator and advocate with a heart for children with autism and related conditions, I established Shine School to be a place where every child is seen, celebrated, and supported.

My journey into special education has been shaped by personal experience and the encouragement of those who believed in me. While teaching at Gainesville Christian Community School, I was blessed with the mentorship of Headmaster James Schrader. His belief in my calling, and his constant reminder to “keep shining” planted the seed that would one day grow into Shine School.

Inspired by a former student and by my incredible son, both of whom opened my heart to the needs of exceptional learners, I transitioned from general education to special education. With the unwavering support of my husband of 25 years and our family’s shared faith, Shine became more than just a dream, it became our mission.

Along the way, I was fortunate to partner with Violet Kyong, owner of Behavior Bricks, a company that provides behavioral therapy to children with special needs. Violet’s expertise, encouragement, and partnership helped shape my vision of a school that integrates essential behavioral therapy into the daily lives of its students. Her support was the final piece I needed to confidently pursue this calling.

It is my greatest joy and purpose to walk alongside families on this journey—creating a school community that not only fosters learning but also nurtures hearts and empowers each child to shine in their own God-given way.
